Brandlab did the design – my job at Apasje was to convert from Photoshop files to a live WordPress site. The site is both a business presentation, a portfolio and a blog. And hey – it’s also responsive. Take a look at the live site that we launched january 12th! The site i loaded with functionality. It’s also search engine optimized.

Responsive and touch-enabled sliders

Two tips for all of you other web developers out there. Do you create responsive websites (if not, read this article) and do you want to really impress your clients?

Use responsive AND touch-enabled sliders. Touch-enabled means that you can use a finger to slide through the content on touch-enabled devices. In stead of tapping. This helps creating a smooth user experience. I have two favorites.

Flexslider is a fully responsive jQuery slideshow that is very easy to use. It also comes with delicious pictures of muffins and cupcakes.

Your website doesn’t live on a desktop anymore.

Your website is viewed on different devices with so many different formats and proportions that you can’t make a new version of your website for each possibility. Laptops, 30″ monitors, iPad’s and smartphones. Clients sometimes asks for a specific iPhone version, but thats often way over the top and a lot of extra work.

The solution is to make a website that responds and adapts to all of these possible formats and proportions. It’s built with percents and ems in stead of pixels. and responds to the size of the browser window that it’s views in. It doesn’t ask what kind of device it’s on. It simply adapts.

Either if you are a web designer, front-end developer (or both) you must read this book by Ethan Marcotte. I believe Ethans approach represents a shift in how we code websites in the decade to come.

Since the beginning of August I have been busy with the company I’m now partner at: Apasje design & communication.

For the past few years I have been working as an independent freelancer, freelancing for both Apasje, other agencies (Brandlab and Futatsu among others) as well as building up my own portfolio of clients.

Clients and projects getting bigger, I’m glad to be a part of Apasje! I’m of course still available for your projects, and happy to hear from you. The only difference from before is that I have a bigger team around me!

WordPress website for Vaffelføzz festival. In 2011 Vaffelføzz celebrates 10 years of waffle, føzz and music. So I thought i would design and code something special for them this year! The site is built from scratch with html5, some css3 and a javascript called masonry which makes the articles float and animate the way they do. Vaffelføzz presents alternative music hand in hand with norwegian waffels and local beer. www.vaffelfozz.com

Nordpeis is the he market leader in the fireplace industry in Norway.

They came to me with a wish to inform about fireplaces, provide useful articles, and be able to answer peoples questions. ‘What do I have to think about before buying”, “How is a fireplace installed” and “What is new in design?”. And also some things you didn’t knew you need to know!

Social easter campaign for Nordpeis

Today I launched a landingpage with a contest for Nordpeis. The goal is to lead people to their new website and gain “Likes” and followers for their Facebook page. 10.000,- kroners as a giftcard is the price for answering a few questions that you’ll have to read and find the answer to on their new homepage.

About Facebook and contests

There are some important rules to follow, and there’s a long list of what you can’t do if you don’t want to risk being banned from Facebook in the middle of a campaign. The bottom line is that you should store your contest outside Facebook, and only use Facebook to promote it. You certainly can’t base a contest on picking some random Facebook user based upon “likes”, commenting or other Facebook functionality.

You might need some professional advice if you are about to arrange a contest with social media involved.
